Run outs and controversy are certainly not a new combination, as we have seen many times before. One big incident is now the talk of social media, which occurred recently during the MI Emirates vs Gulf Giants ILT20 match. Took place on the last ball of the 18th over when Gulf Giants were batting. Batter Mark Adair slammed a shot towards long off and took a run, which Kieron Pollard picked up and threw to the wicketkeeper. Non-striker Tom Curran reached the batting crease, tapped the crease as many batters do, but then stepped out to talk to Adair.
Since the over hadn’t been completed yet, MI Emirates’ wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran was aware of this, and he dislodged the stumps and appealed for an out. After some discussion, the on-field umpires sent Pooran’s request to the TV umpire, who clearly gave him an out. However, what happened next is the current topic of discussion. The decision upset Gulf Giants’ coach Andy Flower, who came out of the dugout and signaled for Tom Curran to stay on the field. Fans were divided while watching this scenario.

Nicholas Pooran’s Sportsmanship Shines
And then what Nicholas Pooran did made him an ambassador of sportsmanship. After seeing Gulf Giants’ coach Andy Flower get furious and come out of the dugout, and with the situation getting bitter, Pooran stepped in and withdrew the appeal and called Curran back to bat. MI Emirates’ decision was appreciated by the Gulf Giants’ dugout. After the game, Pooran said, “By the rules, Tom was out, but I firmly believe that being kind and honest is very important too.” Curran played an important innings of 16 runs from just 11 balls and helped the team reach the 152-run mark.
