Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 66-year-old woman who was struck by an SUV that then drove away from the scene.
The crash took place at 6:52 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of N. Coast Highway 101, according to law enforcement.
Preliminary information indicated that a possibly light-colored SUV struck the woman in the roadway and then the driver immediately left the scene, investigators said in a release.
The woman was taken to a hospital but subsequently died from her injuries.
It was not known whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the collision. Anyone who saw the crash or captured it on video was asked to call sheriff’s investigators at (858) 565-5200, or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
