India skipper Niki Prasad said that she wants to defend the 2025 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and continue the legacy India has created so far. India is the defending champions in the tournament. The U19 T20 World Cup is starting in Malaysia on Saturday, . They also come in on the back of winning the inaugural U19 Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia last month. India won the last u19 T20 World Cup held in South Africa. In a video posted by BCCI, she shared her thoughts on the upcoming tournament.
“The objective is very clear. To win this tournament and successfully defend the title which India won in the previous edition. It also happened to be the first edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. We have to give our best.” She said.
Advice from Shafali Verma
Niki also shared advice she got from Shafali Verma, the captain who helped India win the last U19 T20 World Cup. She said” One advice which Shafalu Verma gave me was to play well and enjoy the moment.”
“We all are very excited to play here, because we all wanted to play for the country and now we got the opportunity. We are motivated” she added.

Niki Prasad was born on October 25, 2005. She has played for WPL side Delhi Capitals Women and Karnataka Women, she excels as a right-hand batter and right-arm offbreak bowler. Niki’s performances have made her a standout in domestic circuits, drawing attention from cricketing circles.
