BLAZE FEARS Company issues urgent product recall for Christmas candles that pose a ‘serious risk of fires’ Cornish candle

AN URGENT recall of Christmas candles has been issued as they pose a “serious risk of fires” – and shoppers have been told not to use them.

The candles continue to glow and smoke for an “excessive” amount of time – even after being put out.

    The candle poses a “serious fire risk”

    The Cornish Christmas Candle by The St Ives Co were recalled on January 14, 2025.

    Anyone intending on using theirs has been urged to “stop”.

    The candle is in a black glass container with a screw-top lid.

    It’s part of batch number 151 and has a “serious” risk level.

    The Office for Product and Safety Standards said the “product presents serious risk of fire”.

    And that it “does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.”

    The statement added: “Owners of this product should stop using it immediately and contact the retailer by email at: [email protected] for further information.”

    The St Ives Co has also spoken out.

    It maintained “customer safety is our top priority”.

    The company also urged: “If you have a candle from batch number 151 that has not been used, please stop use and contact us.”

    And added: “If you have already used this candle and it is empty, no further action is necessary as the issue was not identified and may vary from candle to candle within this batch.
