LAFAYETTE – An investigation is underway into the theft of an estimated 200 bronze vases from gravesites at a cemetery in unincorporated Lafayette, authorities said.
Oakmont Memorial Park reported the theft to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in December.
“Oakmont staff noticed the vases were missing, but it was not known exactly when they were stolen,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post Wednesday.
A memorial bench at the cemetery was also vandalized, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
