Thrillseekers, daredevils and adrenaline junkies have much to celebrate as a new, stomach-churning ride is about to be unveiled at Alton Towers.
The theme park is challenging visitors to “submit to the spin” this spring as the Toxicator comes to Staffordshire.
It promises to be “the only topspin ride in the world to be elevated above ground level”, so spectators can watch the entire experience from underneath.
And according to the makers, it will be the first of its kind in the UK to subject its riders to “heart-pounding centrifugal forces from intense spin patterns”.
The exact date in spring when visitors can get their first taste of the Toxicator has yet to be revealed.
But we do have some tantalising details of what is in store for those who have the temerity to go toxic.
What are the features of Alton Towers’ Toxicator?
www.instagram.com/p/DEwpnxgRNoD/It has been billed by the park as the “latest technology used by a shadowy organisation known as The Phalanx … to extract and separate toxic saliva from the Nemesis creature”.
“It applies an intense spinning, centrifugal force to the saliva, which turns it into a chemical solution so powerful it will melt anything it touches”, it is claimed.
In reality, it is a new topspin ride that can accommodate more than 500 riders per hour, which may or may not make you feel a bit queasy.
Riders are seated back-to-back before being flipped round and held face down above a “bubbling pool of highly toxic alien acid”.
The entire structure stands at 78ft high, which is dubbed “record-breaking”, as it is set on a 16ft elevated platform in the Forbidden Valley next to the Nemesis Reborn.

Alton Towers, part of Merlin Entertainments, released some early details about the new ride on Monday 13 January but said it was “not ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down”.

“We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.”
