A 34-year-old man was fatally shot in Oceanside early Sunday morning, and the suspect was at large, authorities said.
Officers responded at about 2 a.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired in an Oceanside neighborhood. At the same time, they received calls about an unconscious person in a car that was sitting in the middle of the intersection of College Blvd. and Olive Dr. in Oceanside.
Police found the gunshot victim in the car in the intersection, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Police officials said that victim died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
Several bullet casings were also found at the scene.
Police are talking to potential witnesses and seeking surveillance video from the scene. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call Det. Ryan Malone at the OPD at (760) 435-4537, or leave an anonymous tip at (760) 435-4730.
