LSU picked up a transfer commitment on Saturday from Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green, who had a promising start to his college career as a true freshman before suffering an ACL injury in 2023.
Green, a 4-star recruit and the nation’s No. 4 tight end in the class of 2022, enjoyed a strong first year in College Station, playing in 10 games and making 22 catches for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. But weeks before the 2023 season began, he tore his ACL, ultimately redshirting. He returned in 2024 but was greatly limited across the 8 games he played in, primarily seeing involvement on special teams.

— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) January 11, 2025With 2 years of eligibility remaining, Green entered the transfer portal, ultimately deciding to play for LSU. He’ll look for a fresh start in Baton Rouge while hopefully helping the Tigers emerge as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender. Brian Kelly’s team went 9-4 but posted a 5-3 SEC record, opening 2024 with a loss to USC before a 7-game win streak. They then went on to lose their next 3 as their Playoff hopes disappeared.
Green will face his former team on Oct. 25 as the Aggies are set to pay a visit to Death Valley.
