Potential Chicago Bears Draft Fits at the Orange Bowl

Using prospect rankings from CBS Sports, I have listed all the prospects who check in among the top 151 whose teams are playing in tonight’s game.

    PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS

Here are some Penn State prospects who play positions the Bears should prioritize filling this offseason:

Abdul Carter, edge defender (8th overall, EDGE-2) Tyler Warren, tight end (36th overall, TE-2) Kevin Winston Jr., safety (57th overall, S-3) Dani Dennis-Sutton, defensive lineman (68th overall, DL-14) Nicholas Singleton, running back (75th overall, RB-4) Jaylen Reed, Penn State safety (118th overall, S-8) Dec 31, 2024; Glendale, AZ, USA; Penn State Nittany Lions defensive end Abdul Carter (11) practices before the Fiesta Bowl against the Boise State Broncos at State Farm Stadium. I don’t know if enough quarterbacks will go high enough to drop Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter into a spot where the Bears can draft him. But I can dream, right?

With that being said, it wouldn’t take much to get me on board with pairing Abdul Carter with Montez Sweat on the Bears defensive line. Carter teaming up with Sweat, a healthy Andrew Billings, and an upstart Gervon Dexter Sr. (who led the team with 19 quarterback hits last year) in 2025 would be a welcome sight.

    NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH

Here are some Notre Dame prospects who play positions the Bears should prioritize filling this offseason:

Benjamin Morrison, cornerback (17th overall, CB-2) Howard Cross, defensive lineman (80th overall, DL-15) Xavier Watts, safety (111th overall, S-7) Jack Kiser, linebacker (130th overall, LB-8)

I said it before both of the Fighting Irish’s playoff games, and I’ll say it again: The best-case scenario here would be any result that eliminates Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman from consideration to become the next Bears head coach. With all due respect to Coach Freeman, I am looking for something else out of whoever is coaching the Bears in 2025.

Besides, he just signed a hefty extension in December to stick around in Notre Dame and enjoy whatever South Bend has to offer.
