‘Absolutely livid’ man throws fit as neighbor adds ‘single fence’ to property line – his screaming made them add more

A DISGRUNTLED neighbor has been left fuming after a homeowner built a fence to define their property line.

The dispute between the pair went on for weeks before an inspector was forced to come out and evaluate the homes.

What ended in screaming started with a new neighbor arriving in a rural section of Arizona in the mountains, per a recent Reddit post from a longtime homeowner in the area.

“We have lived in our house for about 8 years…” they explained.

The homeowner continued to note that houses in the neighborhood have about three to five acres on average, with dirt roads connecting them in between.

It was also fairly common for property lines to be relatively undefined and for “piles of materials,” sheds, and other items to be seen and spread across the land, according to them.

“We lived in harmony with our neighbors’ junky yards,” they wrote.

Over their time living in the location, it was noticed by developers, and house prices started to go up, with some even “quadrupling” since 2016.

    PROBLEMS ARISE

That’s why, in 2023, the new neighbor purchased the land next to the homeowner’s, which they found out later was to be turned into an investment property.

While there were no issues initially, the homeowner said the neighbor quickly “threw a fit about the stuff we had on the property line,” and it wasn’t much.

“We had put a single fence pole vaguely where the property line was (we hadn’t had any sort of land survey done, it was supposed to just be a temporary marker that became a permanent marker),” they recalled.

Still, the neighbor wasn’t so understanding about it.

“Dude was absolutely livid that we had vehicles parked ‘on his property’ (the very tip of one of our cars was touching the established boundary),” the homeowner said.

Even so, it aggravated the neighbor so much that the homeowner received threats to tow the car unless it was moved.

    SURVEY TAKEN

They ultimately had enough of the complaints and decided it was time an official land survey was completed to clear up any problems.

Interestingly enough, the property line was “a good 20′ into his property,” which, of course, aggravated the neighbor further.

    What is a land survey?

A land survey is conducted by a licensed and professional surveyor.

They are trained to locate and determine property lines with legal descriptions and provide detailed measurements and mappings of land.

Precise boundaries are determined and outlined by the surveyor, along with the shape and other features, elevation levels, and more.

Any structures resting on the property are also defined and allocated by the surveyor.

A typical land survey will cost anywhere from $400 to $1,000, depending on the type of property.

There are at least five reasons a land survey might be required:

To fulfill mortgage requirements To resolve neighbor disputes To buy or sell real estate To install utilities To divide up portions of land To simply update the survey if it’s outdated

“After we confronted him in text, he confronted us in person in our front yard, leaning against our ‘no trespassing’ sign and screaming obscenities as us,” the homeowner claimed.

Since the altercation, they haven’t seen the neighbor since.

It’s also important to note that it remains unclear if the claims made by the homeowner are accurate, as their name and other information remain anonymous.

    GONE FOR GOOD?

“It’s entirely possible that we entirely chased him out of the neighborhood,” the homeowner wrote.

“Homeboy should’ve just let sleeping dogs lie and not been an a**hole about a few inches.”

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time property lines or fences caused issues between neighbors.

A line of trees that served as a fence separating two properties became a significant issue for a couple in Rhode Island last spring, which resulted in a lawsuit.

Another homeowner in San Francisco claimed in September that their neighbor built a “spite wall” with cameras within their property line.
