President-elect Donald Trump has reinforced his firm stance on tariff implementation despite market concerns over its potential impacts. Guardian Bikes CEO Brian Riley joins Asking for a Trend to explain how proposed Trump tariffs could actually create opportunities for small businesses like his own.
Riley outlines Guardian Bikes’ “multi-phase approach to reshoring our supply chain.” The strategy began with building a facility in Indiana, followed by plans to manufacture their own frames while partnering with US-based suppliers to enter “the business of making parts for bikes.” The company also plans to engage with foreign suppliers interested in establishing domestic operations for bike part manufacturing.
“This whole transition of what we’ve been trying to do from the beginning of shifting as many parts as we can to the United States, any tariff increases actually help accelerate that dramatically,” Riley tells Yahoo Finance, adding, “It’s a little bit of short term pain but it really allows us to accelerate more… onshoring which has been our goal from day one.”
