CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man is dead and two other people are hurt after a shooting near UNC Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, officers responded to the 7800 block of University City Blvd about an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, they took a man to a local hospital with a gunshot wound where he later died. Two other people were also transported for gunshot injuries, police said.

This fatal shooting was part of a violent weekend in Charlotte, that totaled three homicides and an officer-involved shooting.
