10 years later: Where is the San Francisco SantaCon bank bandit?

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- As the holiday season winds down, KRON4.com revisits a bold cold case that could be straight out of a movie: A man dressed as St. Nick robbed a bank during the 2014 SantaCon event in San Francisco, and he’s still at large a decade later.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2014, during the citywide SantaCon pub crawl, where hundreds of revelers dress up as Santa, authorities said a man in a red and white suit walked into a bank on the 400 block of Sutter Street, just north of Union Square, around 1 p.m. The man handed the teller a note, took the cash, and disappeared into a crowd of Santa Clauses.

The suspect was described as a man in his 40s or 50s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a red and white Santa suit.

Ten years later, there have been no arrests or significant developments in the case.

KRON4 reached out to the FBI’s San Francisco office for any new details, but was told, “We don’t have any updates.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI San Francisco office at 415-553-7400 or email 'tips.fbi.gov.'
