Bob Johnson greeted families with a warm smile on Saturday afternoon as they approached the Church of All Nations, 630 47th Ave., Greeley.
Children were eager to enter the church as they followed their parents into it with Johnson’s words — “Go right in. Thank you for coming.” — trailing them.
On the inside was nothing short of Christmas magic with a hint of beautiful chaos, even with the majority of people not knowing it, as they enjoyed the first Friends of Faith NoCo/All Nations Church Youth Christmas Party.
The event had presents for children and teens, food, Christmas music and even Santa Claus. It’s the kind of holiday event that usually takes months of planning, but the nonprofit Friends of Faith NoCo made it happen in three weeks.
“We’re as green as grass, brother,” Johnson said.
Johnson is a board member of Friends of Faith NoCo, which recently got its 501c3 status. Members of the nonprofit have provided meals to 200 homeless people in the community every week through street ministry for the past three years. Johnson and other members of the nonprofit saw the need to help the less fortunate in the community, leading to the creation of Saturday’s event.

Alberto’s Express, Haute Headz Salon and Yummy Taco Taquiza were just a few of the local businesses who helped with toy donations and food, as well as spreading the word about the event. About 300 toys were donated.
Johnson and a few other members of the nonprofit said they’re committed to hosting the party next year and in subsequent years. However, they plan to give themselves more than three weeks to organize the future events.
According to Johnson, there were a few other businesses that have committed to helping at next year’s event. As far as how big the event can grow, Johnson wasn’t bashful about how big of an event it can become. However, he was proud and humble about Saturday’s genesis.

“This is a small beginning, but it’ll just get bigger,” Johnson said.
