CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- An employee at a local Charlotte energy company was killed this week while on the job, officials confirm to Queen City News.
The deadly accident happened Wednesday, Dec. 18, around 5 p.m. at the Siemens Energy production facility along Westinghouse Blvd in Charlotte.
Medic was called and pronounced the person deceased at the scene.
Siemens Energy confirmed the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting an investigation. The North Carolina Department of Labor – Occupational Safety and Health Division has also been notified of the incident.

We are deeply saddened that we lost a member of the Siemens Energy family at our facility in Charlotte, NC on the evening of December 18, 2024. We are in touch with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as well as the employee’s family.
Siemens EnergyThe energy company confirmed as of Thursday afternoon, parts of the facility have not been impacted by this incident and remain operational.
Earlier this year, Siemens Energy announced a major expansion in Charlotte, bringing close to 500 jobs as part of a $149.8 million initiative between the Queen City and Wake County.
More than 1,200 employees were already based in Charlotte at the facility off Westinghouse Blvd near the Steele Creek area this year before the announced expansion.
The company has operated in the U.S. for over 100 years.
