Democrats continue to cry wolf
What went wrong for Democrats in the last election? They are now struggling with the causes of their resounding defeat. They have pointed fingers at each other, the media, billionaires, this group or that group, and the American people as a whole. No one has escaped their wrath. But maybe the answer is simply in the current Democrats’ DNA.
They predict that Donald Trump will end democracy, destroy our economy, usher in fascism, etc., etc., etc. Maybe they are right (this time), but who was going to believe it? It is exactly the same speech they used in 2016, and it didn’t happen. The sky didn’t fall, the republic didn’t collapse, the economy didn’t tank, but their credibility surely did.
Republicans were trounced in the midterm elections of 2018 and lost handily in 2020. Americans simply didn’t believe the drama queen, chicken little, Armageddon rhetoric that seems to pervade much of today’s Democrat angst.
True or not, Americans think they are strong enough to deal with whatever comes. Accept it or not, Americans are fiercely independent. Believe it or not, they don’t like labels and don’t like being categorized, and they don’t like being lectured to or told how they must behave. Possibly Democrats can’t or don’t want to see this. They just can’t help themselves, they have to cry wolf.
