The Kansas City Chiefs have been favorites to win every game they’ve played at home this season, but that seems likely to change Saturday against the Houston Texans.
Almost certainly a result of Patrick Mahomes suffering what’s been reported as a high-ankle sprain, the Texans are two-point favorites over the Chiefs for Saturday’s game at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s not insignificant that the game comes in a short week, leaving Mahomes less time to recover in time to play and be ready for another short turnaround for Kansas City’s Week 17 game on Christmas, which is next Wednesday.
Those circumstances make it seem likely the Chiefs would opt to sit Mahomes for at least one game and start Carson Wentz in his place. They’d still likely give Houston a tough game, but considering how underwhelming they’ve been for a 13-1 team (7-0 at home), it’s a game the Texans should be expected to win.
