Australia allrounder Marcus Stoinis is set to become the new captain of Melbourne Stars from the upcoming season of the Big Bash League. Stoinis will replace Glenn Maxwell, who stepped down from the role after the end of last season. Maxwell was the Stars' captain since 2018. But he decided to resign from the role after Stars failed to make it to the finals for the fourth successive year. Melbourne Stars is one of the two teams in the history of the BBL not to have won a title so far apart from Hobart Hurricanes.
