San Marcos Voters Pass Measure Q Sales Tax Hike for General Spending

Photo by Chris Stone City of San Marcos voters have passed Measure Q, a one-cent sales tax that will provide local funding for general government use including public safety and infrastructure improvements. Nearly 60% of the 38,100 ballots currently counted in the city favored the measure. The city will start to receive funding from Measure Q in April 2025. The measure is expected to bring in an estimated $20 million of additional revenue per year to fund efforts such as maintaining fire and paramedic services and efficient response times for 9-1-1 calls, local parks, playgrounds and community facilities, city streets, bike lanes and signals and local wate
