Milan vs Udinese: Team News, Line-ups & Prediction

The upcoming Serie A match between AC Milan and Udinese, scheduled for October 19, presents an intriguing contest as both teams vie for crucial points in the league standings. AC Milan, currently trailing Udinese, aims to capitalize on their home advantage at San Siro. Despite a disappointing run that includes losses in their last two Champions League matches and a recent defeat to Fiorentina, Milan remains undefeated at home this season. The return of players such as Loftus-Cheek and Chukwueze from injury is expected to bolster their lineup significantly.

Just as it seemed like Paulo Fonseca’s tenure at Stadio San Siro was picking up pace, another disaster struck. In a game of three missed penalties, Milan slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina last time out and, as a result, headed into the two-week hiatus from club football five points adrift of league-leaders Napoli.

Christian Pulisic’s second-half equalizer to maintain his outstanding start to the season wasn’t enough to spare the Rossoneri’s blushes in Tuscany. Fikayo Tomori’s late mistake allowed Albert Gudmundsson to snatch three points for Fiorentina, heightening the pressure on Fonseca. After having a fortnight to regroup, the Portuguese manager can’t afford another slip-up.

    Predicted Lineup

    AC Milan predicted lineup (4-2-3-1):

Maignan (GK); Emerson, Gabbia, Tomori, Jimenez; Reijnders, Fofana; Pulisic, Morata, Leao; Abraham

    Udinese predicted lineup (3-5-2):

Okoye (GK); Kabasele, Bijol, Toure; Ehizibue, Zarraga, Karlstrom, Ekkelenkamp, Zemura; da Silva, Lucca

Udinese are very capable of making AC Milan stumble again as they beat them 1-0 in November of last year, although they have never in their history given AC Milan two consecutive defeats away from home. For Udinese, their start in Serie A was one of the best in their history, and they are now 5th in the table, just three points behind Napoli who are leaders.

Fonseca’s side received a much-needed boost earlier this week. U.S. international, Christian Pulisic was released from the squad to face Mexico and returned to the team base ahead of schedule. 'Captain America' has been in the starting lineup for all Serie A matches this season, and has scored six goals.

Thanks to his goal against Fiorentina, Pulisic became the first U.S. player since Roy Wegerle to score in four consecutive top European league matches, highlighting his significant impact on Milan's pursuit of success.

On the other hand, Udinese enters this fixture with momentum after securing four victories from their first seven matches . Their recent win against Lecce has solidified their position in the upper echelons of the league table. However, they face challenges with injuries and suspensions affecting key players. Notably, Theo Hernandez's suspension for Milan may alter defensive strategies as both teams prepare for what promises to be a closely contested match.
