BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- On Thursday, thousands are still without power nearly two weeks after Hurricane Helene slammed Western North Carolina. According to Duke Energy, as of Thursday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2024, nearly 50,000 customers remain without power with more than 3,300 active outages in the state. Buncombe County has the most outages, with more than 36,000 customers still without power and 1,800 active outages reported. As far as an estimated time of restoration, Duke Energy's website states, "Disaster recovery in progress."
