The UEFA Nations League semi-final match between France and Belgium was a significant encounter that showcased the tactical prowess and competitive spirit of both teams. France emerged victorious with a scoreline of 2-0, effectively demonstrating their ability to capitalize on critical moments in high-stakes matches. The match not only highlighted France's strengths but also underscored the challenges faced by Belgium, who were unable to convert their opportunities into goals.
From a tactical perspective, France's victory can be attributed to their strategic formation and execution. Coach Didier Deschamps employed a balanced approach that allowed for both defensive solidity and attacking fluidity. The French team utilized quick transitions and counter-attacks, which caught the Belgian defense off guard multiple times. Goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé exemplified this strategy; both players showcased exceptional skill and composure in front of goal . In contrast, Belgium struggled to maintain possession under pressure and failed to exploit gaps left by the French defense.
Belgium made a bright start but fell behind just before the half-hour mark when Kolo Muani pounced on a loose ball to drive in his sixth goal for France.
Muani's Paris St-Germain team-mate Ousmane Dembele made it 2-0 after the break with a crisp strike.
Mbappe was sent on midway through the second half and had two good chances but was unable to get on the scoresheet.
Dembele always looked dangerous and got his reward in the 57th as he skipped sideways along the edge of the Belgium box before finding space to fire a superb shot past Casteels.
Belgium hardly threatened until Charles De Ketelaere came on in the 69th minute and quickly got a shot on goal, followed soon after by a pair of tame efforts from skipper Kevin De Bruyne, who had a largely frustrating evening.

Mbappe looked bright as he tried to add his name to the scoresheet, missing narrowly from a tight angle 10 minutes from time and having an effort saved by Casteels in the 86th minute.
