CHP: Leggett man killed in Highway 101 crash
A Leggett man was killed Tuesday in a crash on Highway 101 in northern Mendocino County, the California Highway Patrol reported. According to the CHP, a man driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra was heading southbound on Hwy. 101 near Shamrock Ranch around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 4. For reasons reported to still be “under investigation,” the driver of the Tundra allowed the pickup truck to “drift across the road towards the east” while navigating a right-hand curve. The vehicle then “ran off the east paved road edge (of Hwy. 101) and onto a dirt shoulder leading to a slight descending embankment.” The Tundra then drove back onto the highway shoulder “where a parked, unoccupied travel trailer was located,”
