(KRON) -- A fiery crash involving an electric powered Tesla tractor trailer in Northern California earlier this week is being investigated by federal authorities. The National Transportation Safety Board tweeted that it had opened an investigation into the crash in partnership with the California Highway Patrol. 13 unlicensed contractors busted in South Bay: CSLB The Tesla big rig crashed and caught fire on Interstate 80 at Emigrant Gap early Monday morning. The highway was shut down in Placer County for most of the day as a result of the crash. Interstate 80 didn't reopen to traffic in both directions until after 7 p.m. Monday.
