An appliance fire at the Breakaway Café location in Carrboro on Tuesday evening is causing the restaurant to temporarily close. The business at 410 North Greensboro Street shared on social media that during repairs to some of its kitchen equipment, a fire broke out.  A release from the Carrboro Fire-Rescue Department said it set off the automatic fire alarm and led to crews from its department and Chapel Hill Fire arriving to the Shelton Station building around 5:30 p.m. The fire was put out within minutes, with damage limited to an appliance and other “miscellaneous contents” in the kitchen, according to Carrboro Fire, who said the initial damage estimates are around $15,000.
