HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — This week marks four years since a massive gas leak was discovered by two teens in Huntersville, which became the biggest leak of its kind in U.S. history. The leak, discovered on August 14, 2020, was in the Oehler Nature Preserve near the corner of Huntersville-Concord Road and Asbury Chapel Road.  Two teens riding ATVs in the area reported the strong smell of gas, which was later discovered to be coming from the massive pipeline, which runs from Texas to New Jersey and right through that area of Huntersville.
