A decade after her last studio album, the “Queen of Heavy Metal” Lita Ford is making her long-awaited return with a major career update.
Best known for being the lead guitarist of the iconic all-female band The Runaways, the 67-year-old musician shows no signs of slowing down.
In her recent interview with Scott Davidson of Chicago's Rebel Radio, she shared an update on her upcoming album.
According to her, they are working on administrative processes with the record companies to release the album, which they hope will arrive later this year.
"We're trying to get this record out, going back and forth with paperwork through the record companies, and so we're hoping for a September record, in which case, the touring is gonna pick up and everything is gonna be off the charts. So I'm excited. Fingers crossed,” she revealed, as transcribed by Blabbermouth.

As for the journey, especially the songwriting process, Ford shared that she prefers the traditional route instead of relying on technology.
“As a matter of fact, if you have a good idea, if you can somehow get to a guitar, play that riff, write down the lyrics and the title, because I don't know why, but it changes almost instantly if you don't put it down, as how you hear it originally,” the musician explained, emphasizing the importance of capturing a song idea before its original spark fades.
Prior to this, the iconic singer hinted that she would release a new “badass” album this fall.
Ford also revealed that the album will feature a “killer duet" with fellow “queen of metal” Doro Pesch and a collaboration with former The Plasmatics singer and bassist Jean Beauvoir.
“It's great. She nailed it, and the song is fantastic,” she told SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk. “So I'm excited for everybody to hear that. And then I did another track with Jean Beauvoir. We wrote a great song together. [He's] super talented, and the song is magic. And, of course, Gary Hoey produced it, and there's lots of guitar playing on it and stuff. [Legendary 1980s producer] Max Norman mixed it. So, it's badass."
The "Close My Eyes Forever” singer has released nine studio albums since launching her solo music career in 1983, with her last record, Time Capsule, a collection of previously unreleased songs recorded in the 1980s which she released in 2016.
