August 31, 2024 (JUBA) – Sudan has appointed a new ambassador to South Sudan. The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan appointed Essam El-Din Mohamed Karar to replace Jamal Abdel Majid. The new envoy traveled to South Sudan’s capital, Juba on July 31 and met South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs minister, Ramadan Abdallah Goc in preparation for presentation of his credentials and letters of appointment to President Salva Kiir. Sudan’s Consul Yahya Mohamed Osman accompanied Karar to the meeting. Osman said the meeting was attended by the diplomatic missions in the country. He further said a meeting with the president will be arranged in the coming days. “
