DA: Jury deadlocked in trial of Willits man

A Mendocino County Superior Court jury returned from its deliberations July 11 “to announce it was hopelessly deadlocked and would not be able to reach unanimous verdict” in a DUI case against a Willits man, the office of Mendocino County District Attorney David Eyster reported this week. In a post on Facebook, the DA further explains that “after the foreperson was questioned by the trial judge as to whether further deliberations might be fruitful, a mistrial was declared” in the case against defendant Clayton Joel Sternick, 44, of Willits.
