At the highly anticipated UFC 244 event, Nate Diaz faced off against Jorge Masvidal in a thrilling welterweight showdown. Both fighters brought their A-game, showcasing their skills and determination in the octagon.

Jorge Masvidal (1-0) hasn’t had a pro boxing fight since 2005. He defeated Joseph Benjamin via majority decision. He hasn’t competed since losing his final UFC fight to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 via unanimous decision on April 2023.
Diaz’s legendary chin was on display late in the sixth when he shook off an overhand left like it was nothing, then in the seventh, his showboating backfired when he was caught with a right hook with his guard down while taunting taunting “Gamebred”.
Through eight, both men had slowed slightly but their output remained impressive considering their shared age of 39 and respective mileage in combat sports.
It was more of the same down the stretch, though plenty entertaining nonetheless, as Masvidal thudded hard shots around Diaz’s guard while Stockton’s own continued to land jabs, hooks, slaps, uppercuts and everything in between.
As the final bell rang, it was clear that both fighters had left everything they had in the cage. However, it was Diaz who emerged victorious, winning a close judges' decision. His superior striking accuracy and effective grappling skills ultimately proved to be the difference maker in this epic battle.
Diaz's win over Masvidal solidified his status as one of the top contenders in the welterweight division. His impressive performance will surely be remembered as one of the highlights of UFC 244.
