Euro Championship: France 1-0 Belgium

The Euro Championship match between France and Belgium was a highly anticipated event in the world of football. Both teams had shown exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament, making it difficult to predict the outcome of the game.

France emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Belgium, securing their spot in the final. The only goal of the match came from a header by Samuel Umtiti in the 51st minute, showcasing France's attacking prowess and defensive discipline.

Though France haven’t found their shooting boots yet, their brilliant defensive unit will be confident against a disjointed, misfiring Belgian attack, with the Red Devils struggling against Slovakia and Ukraine as Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Jeremy Doku have struggled to click.

Les Bleus will be favourites but Belgium’s level of talent means that you can never rule them out, so both sides will need to be at their best – or, at least, a lot better than they have been – if they want to secure a place in the last eight.

Both teams went scoreless late into the match, but France was finally able to break through after Kolo Muani's shot deflected off a Belgian defender and into the net. France will face the winner of Portugal and Slovenia in the quarterfinal round. 

In Mbappe they have one of the world's best forwards but even he found it difficult when faced with shooting opportunities, notably curling over in the second half after having done well initially to make the space for himself.

In the end they finished with 19 shots on goal but just two of those were on target, while they are still waiting for their first goal from open play so far in Germany.

Coach Didier Deschamps will be relieved his side are through to the last eight, but his life will become markedly easier against Portugal or Slovenia if captain Kylian Mbappe starts to find goals to accompany some dominant passing play from a midfield simply oozing class.

The one blot on their day was Adrien Rabiot collecting a booking that will see him suspended in the quarter-finals.

Belgium, on the other hand, put up a strong fight but were unable to break through France's solid defense. Their star players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku were unable to make a significant impact on the game.

Overall, France's victory was well-deserved as they displayed superior teamwork and strategic play. Their performance in this match has solidified their position as one of the top contenders for the Euro Championship title.
