Spain pummels Georgia 4-1,EURO 2024

Spain's dominant performance against Georgia in the Euro 2024 qualifier match left no doubt about their superiority on the field. The 4-1 victory showcased Spain's technical skill and tactical prowess, as they outplayed their opponents in every aspect of the game.

From the opening whistle, Spain controlled possession and dictated the pace of play, constantly pressuring Georgia's defense with their quick passing and fluid movement. Their relentless attacking style led to numerous scoring opportunities, with goals coming from various players to demonstrate their depth and versatility.

Ruiz struck early in the second half with a header off a Lamine Yamal cross before substitute Olmo and and Niko Williams completed a resounding win. The result ended debutants Georgia’s fairytale in the tournament after a determined performance that successfully taper off on a big night.

La Roja thereby sealed their seventh win over Georgia in eight meetings since 2012. They will next face hosts Germany in a spicy quarterfinal clash on Friday.

Spain defender Robin le Normand poked Otar Kakabadze's curling cross into his own net, finishing off a devastating counter-attack and silencing supporters behind their goal.

Substitutes warming up sprinted over to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who led Georgia's celebrations in the corner.

It sparked confidence in Georgia but Spain's pressure eventually paid off when Manchester City's Rodri drilled a shot into the bottom corner - beating goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who had another outstanding overall display.

Spain now switch focus to a clash of the two teams to have won this trophy more than anyone. Both Germany and La Roja have three titles apiece with the winner of the upcoming quarter-final likely to be seen as favourites to go on and pull clear as the most successful Euros country in history courtesy of a fourth triumph.

Williams killed off any hope of a Georgia comeback with a superbly taken strike in the 75th before substitute Olmo completed the rout with seven minutes left.

Georgia's French coach Willy Sagnol said his team now had time to sit back and reflect on the amazing feat they had achieved.

"The squad has been absolutely fantastic. I'm very proud of that," he said. "I'm very proud of what the players have done in the last months. Now it's the end of a journey, but I'm sure the next one will also be very exciting."
