NEWTON FALLS — Walter T. Wortman, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 81. Born Nov. 10, 1942, to Walter H. and Anne Benich Wortman, Walter grew up in Newton Falls, a community he would call home for his entire life. He was a 1960 graduate of Newton Falls High School and went on to play football, under scholarship, for Youngstown State University (YSU). On Dec. 7, 1963, Walter married his beloved wife, Alice Dianne James and they enjoyed 60 years of wedded bliss, a testament to the foundation upon which they built a remarkable family. Until its closing in 2001, after 30-plus years of service as a millwright for Copperweld / CSC, Walter retired
