Novelist Paul Auster has died at the age of 77 following a battle with lung cancer, it has been confirmed. The American writer, who penned award-winning novels The New York Trilogy and Moon Palace, passed away on Tuesday (30th April). His death was confirmed by his friend and fellow novelist, Jacki Lyden. In March 2023, Auster’s wife, novelist Siri Hustvedt, announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. Auster grew up in Newark, New Jersey, before moving to New York to attend Columbia University.
