Monterrey win 3-1 over Inter Miami in Concacaf Champions Cup

Monterrey emerged victorious in a thrilling 3-1 victory over Inter Miami in the Concacaf Champions Cup. The match showcased Monterrey's dominance and skill on the field, as they outplayed their opponents with precision passing and clinical finishing.

From the opening whistle, Monterrey asserted their control over the game, creating numerous scoring opportunities and putting pressure on Inter Miami's defense. Their efforts paid off when they scored the opening goal early in the first half, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

The Rayados got a 1-2 advantage away from home in a match that, in the first instance, those led by Fernando Ortiz lost, but now, they will come to the 'Steel Giant' to try to finish their work.

Brandon Vázquez and Germán Berterame scored a goal each and Jesús Gallardo made it 3-0 for Rayados, who deserved to win by more difference than the final 3-1. Diego Gómez scored for Inter Miami after a cross from Messi, already when his team was down to 10 players due to the expulsion of Jordi Alba.

Former FC Cincinnati forward Brandon Vazquez (31') made the most of an errant pass from Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender to put Monterrey in front, 1-0. It was similar to Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte's miscue early in the first half at Tigres UANL Tuesday night.

Schulte redeemed himself in the penalty kicks against Tigres, making two huge saves as Columbus became the first MLS team to beat a Mexican foe in CCC play after hosting and not winning in the first leg.

Inter Miami were attempting to become the second team, but couldn't overcome their first-half deficit. Monterrey increased their lead in the 58th minute via a thunderous strike by Germán Berterame, followed by Jesús Gallardo's open header six minutes later to seal the Herons' fate.

Messi and company experienced a true nightmare during their visit to Mexico, as the Rayados won 3-1 with goals from Brando Vázquez, Germán Berterame and Jesús Gallardo.

Now, the Regios will face the Columbus Crew in the semifinals in search of a place in the final.
