Country music star Morgan Wallen was arrested in Nashville after allegedly throwing a chair at Eric Church's Chief's bar. The incident occurred late Saturday night, and Wallen was taken into custody by local police.
This shocking news has left fans and the country music community in disbelief. Wallen, known for hits like "Whiskey Glasses" and "7 Summers," has been a rising star in the industry, but this latest incident has tarnished his reputation.
Two officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were below on Broadway and said the chair landed three feet from them, according to the affidavit. Officers spoke with bar staff, and witnesses, and reviewed security footage, which all confirmed Wallen’s alleged actions, the affidavit states.
Officers were able to view video which showed Wallen "lunging and throwing an object over the roof," his arrest report said. Witnesses told officers Wallen laughed afterward.
Wallen was arrested for three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and for the danger to the public, the arrest report stated. Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct.
Wallen's bond was set at $15,250.
No statement has been issued yet about the April 20, 2024, make-up date for his canceled 2023 appearance at Oxford, Mississippi's Vaught-Hemingway Stadium or if his headlining appearance at the Stagecoach Festival on April 28 will be canceled in light of his recent arrest.
Last year, Wallen said he needed vocal rest on April 24, 2023 and canceled that show. It was only 11 dates into his seven-month global tour. He refunded the cost of the tickets.
On Sunday, his fellow country music colleagues celebrated wins at the Country Music Television Awards in Austin, Texas. Wallen's music video for "Last Night" was nominated for best male video of the year, but he lost to Jelly Roll, whose "Need a Favor" video won it instead.
At the time, Wallen posted on social media that he and some friends were “horse-playing” after a few bar stops.
“We didn’t mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected,” Wallen posted on X. “Thank you to the local authorities for being so professional and doing their job with class. Love y’all.”
