Wrestle Mania 40 recap: Cody Rhodes defeats Roman Reigns

WrestleMania 40 was a night to remember as Cody Rhodes emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Roman Reigns. The highly anticipated showdown between these two wrestling giants had fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

Rhodes, known for his technical prowess and resilience, put on a masterclass performance as he outmaneuvered Reigns at every turn. Despite Reigns' brute strength and aggression, Rhodes showed incredible determination and skill, ultimately securing the win with a devastating Cross Rhodes.

WWE WrestleMania 40 advertised multiple world championship matches as Bayley challenged Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s World Title in Bayley’s first singles WrestleMania match. Coming off a loss in the main event of Night 1, Seth Rollins defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre.

The fight escalated into the crowd and Rhodes suplexed Reigns off the barricade. Once it got back into the ring, Reigns caught Rhodes with a power bomb and took control of the match. Reigns even took a page from his opponents book when he used a Cross Rhodes on the challenger.

Rhodes got on offense and delivered the bionic elbow on Reigns, leading to the match going outside of the ring. A low blow from Reigns turned the momentum again, and the champion did a power bomb to send Rhodes through the announcer's table. He went to finish it off, but Rhodes kicked out. Rhodes then went the Reigns route with a spear on the champion, which ended in an unsuccessful pin.

Damian Priest def. Drew McIntyre | WWE World Heavyweight Championship1

The Pride def. The Final Testament | Philadelphia Street Fight

    LA Knight def. AJ Styles

Logan Paul def. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton | WWE US Championship

Bayley def. Iyo Sky | WWE Women’s World Championship

Cody Rhodes def. Roman Reigns | Bloodline Rules for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship

The match was insanely overbooked but in the best way. The opening stretch felt a bit plodding, in a lot of ways that was because everyone knew the mess of interference was coming and it felt like there was no way anything too meaningful could happen before we saw Jimmy Uso, Sikoa and The Rock. Rhodes getting help from Jey Uso, Cena, Rollins and The Undertaker was the kind of wild mess that only makes sense at WrestleMania.
