BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – The West Virginia high school football championship games have moved today to Charleston. The WVSSAC made the announcement Thursday, moving title games to the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field. The Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau presented the winning bid for the football championships. The deal is for three years, beginning in 2024, with an option for a fourth year. Wheeling Island had hosted the championships for 30 years. This year, 4 championship games will be held, as the WVSSAC moves to a 4 class-system, instead of the previous 3-class alignment.
