The recent game between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies ended in a disappointing loss for the Warriors, with a final score of 116-107. The defeat came as a surprise to many fans, considering the Warriors' strong performance throughout the season.
There were several factors that contributed to their loss. Firstly, the absence of key player Stephen Curry due to an injury had a significant impact on their offensive strategy. Curry's exceptional shooting skills and ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates were sorely missed.
The Warriors were hopeful that with Green coming back, they would be able to build off the improved defensive habits they picked up during the first two games of their four-game road trip.
But it was the exact opposite. Golden State allowed Memphis to shoot 20-of-54 from 3 -- the most 3-pointers the Warriors have given up this season -- and go 32-of-40 from the free throw line.
"Big win for the Grizzlies, and definitely got to shout out big with for the Hustle as well," Jenkins said referring to the Grizzlies G-League team, where several players saw action this year. "This is a product of full-on development."
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 26 points and eight assists, and Jonathan Kuminga finished with 20 and 11 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins scored 16.
Green, suspended by the league indefinitely after he hit Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face Dec. 12, played 23 minutes, scoring seven points.
Golden State was less impressive from behind-the-arc and that discrepancy was even harder to overcome because of a massive gap in free-throw attempts. The Grizzlies got to the line 40 times over the course of the game, four times more than the Dubs.
Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga were the Warriors three biggest offensive contributors. Curry scored a game-high 26 points and added 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Wiggins finished with a Warriors-best +9 plus/minus, recording 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Off the bench, Kuminga scored 20 points and nabbed 11 rebounds in 29 minutes of action.
In his first game back from a suspension, Draymond Green played just over 23 minutes and recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal. He was also among just three Dubs who finished the game with a positive plus/minus.
