He’ll add an experienced voice to work with president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi; Nightengale adds that Baker will also assist CEO Larry Baer on certain business operations. It’s an unsurprising development. Baker revealed last month that he was in talks with the Giants about some kind of non-coaching role. It allows the baseball lifer to remain involved with the game in a less demanding capacity than the managerial position in Houston from which he stepped down after the 2023 campaign.
