Texans vs. Browns (45-14)

The Texans vs. Browns game on October 31, 2021, will forever be etched in the annals of football history. The final score of 45-14 in favor of the Texans not only showcased their dominance but also exposed the weaknesses of the Browns' defense.

From the opening kickoff, it was evident that the Texans were firing on all cylinders. Their offense, led by star quarterback Deshaun Watson, executed flawlessly. Watson's precision passing and ability to read defenses left the Browns scrambling to keep up. He threw for four touchdowns and ran for another, leaving fans in awe of his athleticism.

The Texans sealed the win early in the fourth quarter on their first offensive drive of the quarter. On the third play of the fourth quarter, QB C.J. Stroud handed the ball off to RB Devin Singletary, who ran for 19 yards into the end zone, giving the Texans a 45-14.

However, the Browns defense struggled from the jump, as the unit gave up three touchdowns in the first half. They gave up a deep pass from Stroud to Collins for 37 yards and the third touchdown of the game to give the Texans a 24-14 lead. Both times the Browns offense scored, the defense gave up big plays and scoring drives to the Texans. Houston scored on a 76-yard touchdown run in the second quarter following RB Kareem Hunt's second touchdown of the first half.

Stroud connected on scoring strikes with wide receiver Nico Collins and tight ends Brevin Jordan and Dalton Schultz, while cornerback Steven Nelson and linebacker Christian Harris tallied pick-sixes to put the game out of reach and advance Houston to the divisional round of the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Running back Kareem Hunt scored two TDs for the Browns.

If the Texans were going to have any chance at making a run in these playoffs, at beating a Browns team with an elite defense, Stroud was going to need to be at his best. And he delivered — just as he did throughout the regular season, when it was needed most in pressure-filled situations.

Stroud shining in his playoff debut didn't tell us anything new. It reaffirmed what we'd already seen.

It's a scary proposition for whoever stands in the Texans' way of an AFC Championship Game berth.
