Knicks defeat Wizards 120-99

New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is treating the NBA In-Season Tournament the same way he approaches other games.

"In season, out of season, any season, I love winning," Thibodeau said. "That's all that matters. Get the win. They're keeping score. Try to win the game."

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points and Immanuel Quickley added 27 to lift the Knicks to a 120-99 victory over Washington on Friday night, eliminating the Wizards from contention in this new tourney. Washington has dropped all three of its games so far in the in-season tournament. New York improved to 1-1.

The Knicks waltzed into the nation’s capital and secured their fifth win in six games with a 120-99 victory in an arena that felt more like home than hostile enemy territory. Blue and orange jerseys stuffed the stadium — and the Knicks stuffed the box score.

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points on 10-of-23 shooting from the field, and Julius Randle scored 20 points to go with eight assists and seven rebounds. With RJ Barrett (migraine) and Quentin Grimes (wrist) out on Friday, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart started, with Immanuel Quickley seeing extended minutes.

Quickley scored a season-high 27 points off the bench

The Knicks should cover and the game should go Over. Their aforementioned recent victories have all been high-scoring, and a total of 227.5 simply isn't high enough.

The total for Washington games is routinely in the 230s and 240s. The Knicks’ offense should receive more respect given their recent stretch.

Finally, we’re taking Mitchell Robinson to record 12+ rebounds to close out the parlay. The Wizards are dead-last in the NBA in rebounding at 46.3 per game. The Knicks are at the top of the league with 58.5 rebounds per contest.

Robinson has gone over 11.5 rebounds in seven of 11 games this season and should clear that tonight.

The Knicks never truly created separation until the 4:44 mark of the fourth quarter, when Brunson’s pull-up 3 gave his team a 13-point lead — and gave him 32 points on the night.

New York is now 1-1 in group stage play of the In-Seaon Tournament after a Nov. 3 loss to the Bucks in Milwaukee.
