Missouri football vs. Georgia (21-30)

Two third-quarter touchdowns and two fourth-quarter field goals enabled the No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (9-0, 6-0) to come from behind for a 30-21 victory over the No. 12 Missouri Tigers (7-2, 3-2) 30-21 at Sanford Stadium.

It was Georgia's 26th consecutive victory, its 24th straight at home and its 10th in a row over Mizzou.

The game was tied 10-10 at halftime, but Missouri got the ball first in the third quarter and moved to a 42-yard field goal by Harrison Mevis that made him Missouri's all-time leading scorer and gave the Tigers a 13-10 lead. It upped his career point total to 364 – two better than the old mark of 362 held by Jeff Wolfert. On the Tigers' first two plays of the half, Brady Cook connected with Theo Wease Jr. for 31 yards and Mookie Cooper for 21 on the 59-yard drive.

The Tigers simply couldn’t get the job done. That doesn’t mean they don’t deserve credit for what they were able to accomplish.

The Tigers gave Georgia everything it could handle. The last time the Bulldogs won a home game by less than 10 points was 2019. There were moments when Sanford Stadium went silent, wondering if this would be the day Georgia didn’t have enough to get the job done.

SEC football isn’t about moral victories. It’s about wins and losses and the Tigers took an L on the road. But the process does matter, and the Tigers put together one hell of a fight on the road against a team who very well might be the eventual national champions.

The Bulldogs throttled rival Florida 43-20 last week to extend their winning streak to 25 games. Quarterback Carson Beck was solid in Georgia's first full game without star tight end Brock Bowers, who underwent ankle surgery two weeks ago. The defense was all over the Florida offensive line early, which allowed the Dawgs to pull away and never look back.

The Tigers were off last week, which makes this game even more intriguing. Brady Cook and Luther Burden III have become one of the best quarterback-receiver duos in the nation, and there's no doubt that coach Eli Drinkwitz used the bye week to draw up a unique game plan for the undefeated Bulldogs

Georgia outgained Missouri 385 to 363, in a game that was largely controlled by the two defenses. Georgia had only allowed five QB sacks coming into the game, but Missouri recorded three. Ty'Ron Hopper led MU's defenders with 10 tackles, including seven solos and one sack. Darius Robinson and Nyles Gaddy had the Tigers' other two sacks.
