The Republican Party held a sizable lead over the Democratic Party in a new poll released Tuesday that asked which the public trusted more to safeguard the country’s prosperity and military security. The Gallup survey showed that while both political parties remain unpopular with the public, the GOP led on major issues. Fifty-three percent of respondents said the GOP would do a better job at keeping the country prosperous over the next few years, compared to the Democrats’ 39 percent.
