Officially, all the United Nations mediation efforts have failed to end the tensions between Palestinians and Israel at the eastern borders of Gaza.  On Tuesday, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland held meetings with leaders of Hamas,  the Islamist group ruling Gaza, to discuss the field developments in the territory amid the ongoing Gaza-Israel border tensions.
