The game is the season opener for both sides, with Hard Rock Stadium hosting the matchup in Miami Gardens, Fla. The RedHawks were 6-7 last season, including a Bahamas Bowl loss to UAB, while the Hurricanes were 5-7 in 2022.

Van Dyke finished his night early in the fourth quarter. Leading an extremely efficient Miami offense, Van Dyke was 17-22 for 201 yards with one TD and one interception. Emory Williams came in for Van Dyke on the last drive for Miami and was 3-3 for 42 yards. Miami spread out their carries and completions.
Ajay Allen supplemented Fletcher and Parrish with nine carries for 47 yards. Don Chaney Jr. had six carries for 30 yards and a TD. Jacolby George led Miami with six receptions for 56 yards. Colbie Young topped the Hurricanes with 79 receiving yards on four receptions and the one TD. Xavier Restrepo had five receptions for 68 yards.
Miami held Miami (Ohio) to 215 yards. The Hurricanes rushing defense was stifling. Miami (Ohio) ran for 51 yards on 25 carries. The Hurricanes held Redhawks starting QB Brett Gabbert who claimed the real Miami is in Oxford, Ohio to 12-21 for 127 yards. The first-team Miami defense was mostly dominant.
They might be even higher this year after the Hurricanes went just 5-7 last season. Miami is switching things up this season with the addition of a new offensive and defensive coordinator. Hurricane fans hope for the revitalization of quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who had a down year after winning ACC Rookie of the Year in 2021. The goal has to be at least attaining bowl eligibility this season. The Hurricanes also must capitalize on the first half of the season because the road gets much tougher come October and November.
