Tennis icon Serena Williams has welcomed her second child, a girl, her husband announced on social media.
"Welcome, Adira River Ohanian," Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, said Tuesday afternoon on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Serena Jameka Williams (born September 26, 1981) is an American former professional tennis player. Widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, she was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for 319 weeks, including a joint-record 186 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times. She won 23 Grand Slam women's singles titles, the most in the Open Era, and the second-most of all time. She is the only player to accomplish a career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles.
"I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful," he added.
Williams also posted a video on TikTok where she brings her newborn to be with the rest of her family.
Williams retired from professional tennis after the US Open in September 2022. In an essay in Vogue announcing her decision to "evolve away" from the game, she said that she intended to grow her family after her tennis career.
Serena Williams and Ohanian posted on Instagram and TikTok on Tuesday celebrating the arrival of Adira River Ohanian. The couple welcomed their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., on Sept. 1, 2017.
He finished his caption with a quote that is seemingly an ode to his daughter's middle name: "Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea."
Serena Williams also announced her daughter's birth in an adorable TikTok video simply captioned: "Welcome my beautiful angel."

The couple first revealed their baby news on TikTok Tuesday, where Williams shared a video that begins with the family sitting at a table, with daughter Olympia, 6 next month, leaning on Williams as Ohanian, 40, types on a laptop in front of them.
She made her farewell with a thrilling US open run that included a win over world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit. Then Williams announced her second pregnancy at the Met Gala in May, captioning an Instagram post with: "Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us."
