Houston teen found alive 8 years after of beeing missing

Houston man who went missing as a teen more than eight years ago was found sleeping in front of a local church, according to police.

Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV had been missing since March 6, 2015, according to a missing persons flyer published by the Texas Center for the Missing.

On June 29, the Houston Police Department received a call for service, responded to the church in east Houston and later confirmed that the individual was Farias, a department spokesperson said.

In an update on Monday, Houston police said there was a reported sighting of the missing man by his family back in 2018, years after he first went missing.

On Sunday night, our sister station KTRK spoke to Farias' mother on the phone, who shared pictures of him in a hospital bed and said someone called 911 after finding him outside a church, unresponsive in southeast Houston on Thursday.

The mother added he was found with cuts and bruises all over his body and blood in his hair and believes he was badly abused and beaten. People close to the investigation say there have been inconsistencies in the mother's story since her son's disappearance in 2015.

Farias' mother told local news station KTRK that someone called 911 after finding him unresponsive outside a church. He had cuts and bruises all over his body and blood in his hair, Farias’ mother told the station.

So much about Farias' life the last eight years remained a mystery Monday.

A family member had called authorities in 2018 to report that Farias had been staying behind their residence, according to Shay Awosiyan, a Houston police spokesman.

A social media post from the Texas Center for the Missing said Farias had been hospitalized soon after being found, but the organization had not released information as to where Farias had been living for the past eight years or details as to whether he was held against his will at any point.

At the time of his disappearance, Texas EquuSearch said Farias had an injured leg and walked with a limp. The organization also said the teen apparently had suffered from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety and had been on medication capable of leaving him disoriented if he stopped taking it.

When Farias went missing, he also did not have his inhaler to help with his asthma, the group said.
