Kamelot, the long-running symphonic power metal band behind the chart-topping album Haven, delivered an exciting surprise to fans.
Currently consisting of lead vocalist Tommy Karevik, longtime member Thomas Youngblood on guitars, Sean Tibbetts on bass, Oliver Palotai on keyboards and Alex Landenburg on drums, the five-piece band shared a new preview of their forthcoming album, Dark Asylum, through a new song.
In an Instagram update, Kamelot announced the release of the second single from its soon-to-be-released album.
Titled “Godlike Alchemy,” the band described the song as a powerful sound accompanied by “soaring string arrangements and goosebump-inducing wails.”

Karevik also spoke about the message of the new song, which primarily centers on personal growth, self-improvement and inner strength.
“This song encapsulates the overarching theme of the Dark Asylum. What if you don’t need to look outside of yourself to find peace and happiness... What if you already possess the power you need to heal and create the reality you want to see? What if we are all magical, powerful beings with unlimited potential? It’s a mind-boggling thought...” the vocalist said.

The majority of fans applauded both the song’s powerful sound and its thought-provoking message.

Before “Godlike Alchemy,” Kamelot released “Ashen World” in July.
Described as “Thomas Youngblood’s expressive lead work” with “soaring orchestration and the rich symphonic arrangements that have become the band’s hallmark,” it served as the first single from the band's 14th studio album.
The track also features a collaboration with Decessus frontwoman Ignacia Fernández.
Scheduled for release on Aug. 28 via Napalm Records, Dark Asylum will be the band’s third album since the release of its most commercially successful record, Haven, in 2015, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
