A Hopland man was arrested recently for resisting arrest after allegedly trying to punch a deputy, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, deputies responded to the 13500 block of South Highway 101 in Hopland around 7:45 p.m. Nov. 30 for a report of two intoxicated people there. When a deputy arrived and located the two people, one of them began walking away. After being ordered to stop, the man reportedly began running and the deputy pursued him on foot. After the deputy caught up with the man, identified as Johny Nunez-Garcia, an 18-year-old resident of Hopland, the suspect reportedly tried to punch the deputy as he tried to detain him.
